Naila McConnell, LCMHCA

Naila McConnell is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Charlotte, North Carolina, who provides compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her path into the mental health field was shaped by a personal experience with therapy that revealed the transformative impact of being met with genuine understanding, validation, and support during difficult times.

Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), Naila helps clients strengthen emotional regulation, improve communication, heal from trauma, and build healthier relationships. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, life transitions, and relational difficulties, while also supporting families and couples seeking to strengthen connection, resolve conflict, and develop healthier patterns of interaction.

Naila has a particular passion for working with adolescents and their families. Through AF-CBT and other evidence-based approaches, she helps caregivers and youth improve communication, reduce conflict, increase emotional understanding, and create safer, more supportive family relationships. Her approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change occurs when individuals and families feel empowered, understood, and equipped with practical skills they can apply in everyday life.

Known for her warm, collaborative style, Naila creates a therapeutic environment where clients feel respected, challenged, and supported. She integrates nervous-system-informed care with practical strategies that help clients move beyond survival mode, develop resilience, manage executive dysfunction, and cultivate lasting emotional wellness.

Naila believes that healing is not measured solely by symptom reduction, but by the small and meaningful moments when clients begin to trust themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move closer to the lives they want to build. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate growth, healing, and self-discovery.

Outside of her clinical work, Naila enjoys spending time with her two Dalmatians, Millie and Nova, staying active, exploring creative projects, and embracing self-care practices that support balance and well-being. She is also pursuing continued professional growth and plans to earn a Doctorate in Psychology to further expand her clinical expertise and impact.
